As a young girl of just five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and enrolled at her first Dragon School. From the age of six Emma was aware she was going to become an actress and for a number of years she trained at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied performing and singing. When she was 10, she had already taken part in many Stagecoach plays and productions. The casting process began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Agents for casting found Emma via her Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe that they had all been through eight consecutive auditions. Emma's debut film appearance came as a part of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. It broke all records in the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature in 2001. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three leading actors of the young generation. The well-known British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her performance as admirable.
