Maggie Grace, born Margaret Grace Denig on 21 September of 1983 in Worthington, Ohio, USA is an American actor. She is best known for playing Shannon Rutherford and Kim Mills respectively on ABC's Lost television show. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington from Ohio left high school in order to move in Los Angeles after her divorced parents. However, in 2001, despite financial struggles she managed to secure her first big part in the web-based video show Rachel's Room as the main character. In 2002, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her part as the 15-year-old murdered Martha Moxley. In 2004 Grace was selected to portray Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she was the main actor for the first two seasons, and was awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace decided to leave the series to focus on her film career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog in 2005. In 2007, she appeared on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills in Taken. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the lead role Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern version of Lewis Carroll's classic novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace reprised Shannon's role as Shannon in Lost for two episodes, which included the series final. She appeared in 2013's sixth season of Californication. The character she plays is Faith who's both an avid stargazer as well as a the girl in the group. Hank Moody, played by David Duchovny, falls for her. As a member of the Gyllenhaal family she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder sibling of actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was an early teenager, when she appeared in small roles in several films that her father directed. She also worked with her brother on the 2001 cult film Donnie Darko. She also starred as a character in Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also, she appeared on Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal was praised by critics for her performance in the erotic romance comedy drama Secretary (2002) as well as the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) each of which earned her an Golden Globe Award nomination. She gained wider recognition after playing Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008) due to the success of several commercials she appeared in in 2006. She was nominated in the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part as Rachel Dawes in Crazy Heart, (2009). After that she was able to star in comedies as well as dramas such Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Won't Back Down (12). Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she has also appeared in White House Down (2013) and Frank (2014). Her most recent roles were as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directing debut with the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
